Madrid Live

In this show, we feature the first in a series of interviews with author Giles Tremlett about his book Ghosts of Spain: Travels Through Spain’s Hidden Past. Giles was inspired to write the book when mass graves from the Civil War appeared which broke the Pacto de Olvido, the pact of forgetting.

Plus a look at Trainspotting 2 which had a long run in Madrid and is now available on DVD.  The original Trainspotting was about the exploits of a group of heroin addicts in Edinburgh, and was regarded as one of the greatest films of the 1990s.  In this show, we hear how director Danny Boyle was convinced that choosing the right time to make the sequel was vital – he actually waited twenty years to make Trainspotting 2 - and cast the same actors.  Three of those actors - Ewan Macgregor Robert Carlyle and Ewan Bremner - talk about how they felt about appearing in the sequel.

Music:  Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood from the soundtrack to Trainspotting 2,  and the new Sam Smith single Too Good at Goodbyes which was released just a few days ago. Too Good at Goodbyes  is the first new song Sam has released since his Oscar-winning Writing's On the Wall - the theme song for the last James Bond film Spectre.
